Inland Empire Stakeholders

The California Statewide ITS Architecture represents the consensus input of a diverse set of stakeholders, encompassing traffic, transit, public safety, and many other operating agencies.  It includes both public and private sectors and spans the organizations that manage, support, or are impacted by statewide or interregional intelligent transportation services in California.  The table below identifies that stakeholders associated with the Inland Empire region.

Arizona DOT Arizona Department of Transportation
BLM, Fish and Game, Parks and Rec Represents a group of stakeholders responsible for parks, recreation areas, and wildlife areas.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) California Highway Patrol provides public safety services on state roads.
Caltrans California Department of Transportation
Caltrans, District 8 Caltrans District 8 covers Riverside and San Bernardino Counties in southern California.
Correctional Facilities Represents agencies in charge of correctional facilities at federal, state, or county level.
County Public Safety Agencies Agency responsible for Sheriff, Fire, and possibly EMS at the county level.
County Public Works This represents county public works departments throughout the state.
Local Government Represents municipal and county government.
Local Media Represents the broadcast or print media in a region.
Municipal Public Safety Agencies Public safety agencies at the municipal level.
National Park Service/U.S. Forest Service Federal agencies, part of Interior Department responsible for National Parks and National Forests
National Weather Service US Agency, part of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, that is responsible for national and local weather
Nevada DOT Nevada Department of Transportation
Other States DOTs Represents department of transportations in states outside California.
Private ASPs Organizations that provide traveler information to end users including telematics service providers such as ATX, OnStar, AAA, and Cross Country, Microsoft (http://autos.msn.com), Tribune Interactive, Cox Interactive, Iteris, TANN, and other traveler information web sites too numerous to list. See also the "Private ISP" element that covers those organizations that collect and distribute traveler information to ASPs.
Private ISPs Organizations that collect, process, and supply traffic data and traveler information to Application Service Providers (ASPs) who in turn provide the information to end users. ISPs include Tele Atlas and Westwood One, TANN, and Iteris. As an example of the configuration of these systems, Tele Atlas/Westwood One California operations centers are located in San Francisco, San Jose, Sacramento, Fresno, Los Angeles and San Diego. Each operations center covers a very large region. For example, the Los Angeles and San Diego centers cover all of Southern California. The Sacramento center covers from the Bay Area to Lake Tahoe and as far south as Merced.
Private Rail Operators Operators of private freight rail
Regional Planning Agencies Regional planning agencies such as Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs).
Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) Transporation planning organization for Southern California
Southern California Toll System Agencies Toll agencies operating in southern California
Southern California Transit Agencies Transit agencies operating in southern California
Special Police Police forces other than state, county or municipal. This stakeholder includes Fire Districts and Coast Guard, This also includes public safety or enforcement aspects of California Fish & Game, National Park Service, U.S. Fish & Wildlife and U.S. Forest Service.
Telematics Service Providers Agencies that provide Mayday and other special concierge services for their clients. These agencies will typically not be associated with a single county or district, but will interact with local agencies when their client's have an emergency in the region. Current examples of these agencies include OnStar, ATX Technologies, and AAA.
Toll Road Operators Agencies operating toll roads in the state.
Travelers Represents the traveling public.
