Central California 511 Systems

Status:

Existing

Description:

Phone based traveler information systems in California accessible through the 3-digit 5-1-1 telephone number assigned to the transportation community by the FCC. The system is being implemented at the regional level as the urban metropolitan areas in California convert their existing traveler information systems or establish enhanced 511 services. MTC is operating 511 in the Bay Area. Los Angeles and greater Southern California, San Diego, and Sacramento are each progressing towards regional implementation. For the rural areas, Caltrans is taking the lead for 511 planning and deployment.
