Architecture Scope

The scope of the Regional ITS Architecture can be described in terms of: 1) the size of the region and jurisdictions covered (geographic scope), 2) the planning or time horizon, and 3) the variety of transportation services that are covered. This scope is defined in the context of adjacent and overlapping Regional ITS Architectures.

Regional ITS Architecture for the Bristol Region.

Time Frame

20 years (2017-2037)

Geographic Scope

The Bristol Region is comprised of eastern Sullivan County, Tennessee; central Washington County, VA; and the City of Bristol, Virginia. Additionally, the City of Bristol, Tennessee and the Town of Abingdon, Virginia are located within these boundaries.

Service Scope

Identify services, functions and interfaces for ITS deployment and integration in the Bristol Region.

Kingsport Regional ITS ArchitectureRegional ITS Architecture for the Kingsport Region. The Kingsport Region shares many of the same stakeholders as the Bristol Region including: TDOT Region 1, the VDOT Bristol District, Sullivan County TN, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, and the Virginia State Police. Many of the service packages for state agencies were developed jointly and appear in both regions.
